Kusuma joined the ashram in 2000. Her husband passed away 30 years ago and nobody was there to take care of her. Today, being a determined woman, she lives independently and helps others in the day-to-day chores of the Ashram. She leads a comfortable life and ensures that the other inmates can live a life comparable to hers.
Dattu led a bachelor life doing petty job and running errands. At the age of 70, in 2006, he had grown so old and weak that he could no longer support himself. He had no one to take care of him too. His relatives referred him to the ashram so that he could lead a comfortable life with other inmates of the ashram.
Anil Kulkarni, only 40 years old, is mentally underdeveloped. When he joined us in 2009, we found out that he needs proper guidance to even take care of his daily chores. However, his strong self-assured does not allow his incompetence to deter him and he lives his life opportunely at the Ashram.
Shantabai was abandoned by her husband by terrible turn of events. Having no children, she had nobody to take care of her in the hard times. She is suffering from eye ailment. She joined our Ashram in 2009. Being a regular visitor of Sai temple, she met Pujari ji, who guided her to join Ashram and lead an easy life there with other inmates.
Among the several elderly inmates at our home, comes the heart wrenching story of Valluri Annapurnamma. She came to live with us on August 24, 2000 and is 89 years old now. After having faced the plight of a deceased husband for over 40 years, she lost two of her three daughters. The third daughter also abandoned her old and frail mother. She started relying on her adopted grandson and saw a ray of hope in him. However, it turned out that he too abandoned her after taking up all her property. Not only that, he abused Valluri mentally and physically before forcing her out of her own house.
B. Chennakesavamurthy joined our team on January 25, 2004. He is a highly educated member of the ashram. Destiny broke apart his family and left him with no one to take care of him. However, he is a boon to other inmates, as he can help other members by taking care of their logistics, taking them to the hospital, or helping them with other related paperwork. He is 68 years of age now, but age does not deter him from helping other inmates.
Parvatibai had two able sons to take care of her. However, by turn of events they became alcoholic and started harassing and abusing her mentally and physically. At the age of 74, in 2005, she could no longer bear the plight and came to live with us for a better tomorrow.
Sahebhai was leading a comfortable life with her husband and then came a downturn in her life when she lost her husband. She could not bear the trauma and sold her land, donated all money to Lakshminarayan Temple at Srirampur and stayed in the temple premises for years. As she was growing old, there was nobody to look after her. Then she met the Chairman of Sai baba Sansthan, Mr. Sasane, who referred her to the ashram.
